Though rock n roll is not as big as it was back in the 60's it still deserve it rightful place in american history. The music of the 50's and 60's helped pave the way for most of the things we listen to today. Musicians now have so much freedom the speak about what is on their minds thanks the pioneers of those early eras. And even though music is not a cultural movement like it was before i have learned than it still can have great effects on people's lives.
The quick bio on Bruce Springsteen was a perfect example to me of how music can first change a person, and then later go on to change the world. His story is so interesting, and confused kid with not much ambition so saw the great Elvis on TV and it change his life for ever. And through the years of Bruce's career we have seen him change the world and mark his stamp on music as well. Which is something i think a lot of musician are missing these days, they have such freedom to express and really make a difference in this world but they choose to write and sing about lesser things. My favorite music is Hip Hop and this is a great example, before rappers told of story about the struggle and wanted the world to take a look at what was really going on in the world. Expressing themselves much like the early rockin rollers, bringing everyone together and giving them something they could all relate to.
So overall as i finish this book and learn more about the true origins of rock and its contribution to the world i have learn a lot. Before i was not really into the thought that music could really change anything or really have that big of a impact. but as i have read on the learned more i realize that it not only had a great impact but it is still changing a lot of america today even though the message may not be the same
Good essay, but you need to proofread more carefully. 12/15
ReplyDeleteFor example, here's how I'd edit one sentence of yours: His story is so interesting. He was a confused kid with not much ambition, then he saw the great Elvis on TV and it changed his life forever.
